Beyonce’s Formation Uproar – Is It Pro-Black?
It amazes me how supportive we say we have to be to each other, then when an artist releases their creativity to the world, we become so hypercritical to their body of work that we attempt to chip at it until it’s dwindled down to nothing.
Art is subjective. Art is sometimes political. Art sometimes has no intent…and that’s the intent. You may get it, you may not. It may speak to you, it may not.
Despite what you think that girl is supposed to be to the black community. She is telling her story, her experience and using her talent to share that with us.
That’s it. That’s what artists do. You don’t have to like it, you don’t have to support it…but she told you, “Earned all this money but they never take the country out me.” and she also let you know that she like “cornbread and collard greens, bitch.”
She’s telling you out loud that she loves herself and where she’s from!!!
She’s sharing her story with you.
“I see it, I want it, I stunt, I dream it, I work hard, I grind ’til I own it, I twirl all my haters”
I see a lot of you saying the same things everyday on this platform called Facebook…. so how can you not relate?
Oh because she’s who she is and is supposed to carry herself differently from you?
What do you want from her? And do you have the expectations of your peers and yourself?
At the end of the day…she’s successfully accomplished what an artist wants you to do — talk about it.
And she always does.
